"Let us not lose heart in doing good, for in due time we will reap if we do not grow weary." (Galatians 6:9)
Today's devotional is directed towards our awesome volunteers and financial supporters. Thank you for your contributions to the work laid before us. Without you we could not accomplish as much as we have in such a short period of time. It was just six short months ago that we started distributing food through the Short Creek Family Services food pantry known as the Short Creek Foodbank. In that first food distribution back in July of 2016 we feed 110 families and 750 people. The numbers for December's food distribution are in. We feed 308 families and 1,800 people...We have experienced nearly a 200% increase in only six months of operations for the number of families and a 240% increase in the number of people! I say this not to brag in anything that we have done but to praise God for all that He has done and to express to you our gratitude for your help. Another reason is also to express our great need that has come for more volunteers and financial support.
As a result of the increased need and growth we've experienced, St. Mary's Food Bank Alliance is planning on expanding our food distribution. Because we are already maxing out what the truck can haul in a single shipment, staring in February they are planning on sending two shipments a month to be held on the 2nd and 4th Wednesdays. This means that we need our current volunteer force twice a month and we also need volunteers who are willing to serve in shifts early afternoon and early evening so that we can expand our hours of operation to meet the needs of the people.
Come experience the blessings that come from serving others. Please invite others to join you. We need all the help that we can get. God bless you for your service.
